Art Journal for Canvas Corp Brands

Hi, Kate Dachovska here. I would like to share with you my mixed media tutorial for art journal. I had that quote sticker – It`s The Little Things That Make Life Big – for quite a long time in my stash and I had no idea how to use it. But as usual, inspiration comes from unusual places – when I was doing my first gardening after winter, and idea of a background came to me; it is not a complicated project but it needs some time to play with all the mediums.

Materials used for the page:
Canvas Corp The watercing Can: Birds and Bees on Ivory Paper
Canvas Corp Spring showers: Butterflies on Ivory Paper
Scraps of various Canvas Corp Kraft papers
Tattered Angels Simply Sheer – Army Green

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Woven Burlap, Dijon, It`s Brown
Architextures Parchment Rub-On – Grow
white gesso, 3D matte gel, plaster paste, watercolour pencils, art journal block
brush, spatula, stencil, heat tool, paper trimmer, scissors

Apply white gesso all over your art journal page. Dry it with heat tool.

Glue different stripes of paper, make background as you like. Do not cover whole page.

Lightly cover paper stripes with gesso, dry it.

Apply structure paste over your favourite stencil. Just here and there. Dry it.

Apply colours, use any kind of Tattered Angels sprays. I love Glimmer mists and Simple sheer sprays.

Decorate edges of paper stripes with watercolour pencils and lightly use water brush to activate watercolour.

Instead of stamping, use Parchment Rub-on to decorate background. Very lightly cover some of them with white gesso.

Glue different insects and birds over art journal, use 3D matte medium.

With watercolour pencil highlith edges of insect. It is not necessary step but it looks nice.

Make white splatters, glue quote sticker and highlight frame around sticker.

Have a nice day

Kate

Steampunk canvas for ScrapFX

Hello,

This canvas was really challenge for me because I never did steampunk canvas. I had that photo (source Freepik) quite long time and new release for January was great to start with steampunk crafting. It is not complicated project. The first layer as usually is white gesso, than I applied structure paste through new stencil. Than I glued different embellishments and art stones which made awesome structure. I did some stamping and the main part was playing with Tattered Angels Glimmer mists in combination with pastes from Finnabair – Rust paste. Final splatters are made with Ecoline white watercolour and sentiment is by Tim Holtz. Whole list of material is at the end of my blog post.

Have a nice day

Layout for ScrapFX

Hi,

are you relaxed after Christmas or you are looking forward to normal days after New year? I love Chrismtas but I also love our calm house without guest. You know. So for today I prepared mixed media layout. There is our sharpei Dobby on photo. I used amazing chipboards – Crescent Frame and Wishes do come True. Chipboards are painted with Tattered Angels Glimmer mists. For background I used Prima Marketing papers and stamps and flowers. It is quite heavy background but sometimes it is great to have dirty hands of nice paints.

Have a nice day
